World War I expands to the mountainous Italian Front - beautiful, yet deadly. Inspired by the two-year struggle for control of the Soča River valley and the Alps during World War I, Isonzo elevates the WWI series in both image and literally.
From the creators of Verdun and Tannenberg...
Participate in historical offensives from the Sixth Battle of the Isonzo to the Battle of Caporetto. Reflecting the actual battlefield progression, combat will shift throughout an offensive across diverse and spectacular scenery in one go: from mountaintop fortresses to mountain trenches, and intense urban warfare on city streets. Everything, from the sound effects and uniforms to the houses, vineyards, and trenches you’ll be fighting over, is recreated with research and on-location scouting.
Engage in the historical key offensives of the Italian Front in the new Offensive mode. You’ll lead the charge across breathtaking Italian landscapes as you choose the path to victory – clearing paths through barbed wire, flanking the enemy through mountain passes, or blasting a way through with mortars. Build a dynamic battlefield by laying down sandbags and barbed wire, placing ammo crates, deploying trench periscopes or sniper shields.
Call in support with a unique, historically-accurate flare system: signal pistols can mark targets for artillery or biplanes, and different colored flares can guide your squad. Once the artillery has softened up the enemy, finish them off at close range with an Arditi dagger or an alpine pickaxe. Utilize heavy machine guns, mortars, even mountain guns for even more direct fire support.
Choose from six classes, based on historical war figures, and build out your loadout from a selection of weapons, gear, and perks associated with that class, providing flexibility and variety within the constraints of what a real soldier might have carried. You’ll operate wire cutters, bandage yourself and wounded comrades, and use whistles to launch assaults. One shot kills, or even lighter injuries, can lead to rapid death from blood loss.
Being an effective soldier on the Isonzo isn’t just about being a good shot. Mastering the terrain is key – mountains can be both friend and foe. Learn to navigate accurately to stay in cover and either ambush the enemy or support your allies.
Finally… watch out for the dreaded poison gas. You’ve never experienced WWI action like this before!
Key features of Isonzo include:
• Mountain Warfare: Assault mountain defenses, fight in ruins, and wade through rivers, just a few of the challenges you’ll face as you fight through enemy positions.
• Tactical Multiplayer FPS: Carefully choose your role and gear to survive this high-altitude combat – play as a sniper to take down enemy sappers before they cut your wires, use a rifle to clear enemy machine guns with grenades, and more.
• World War I Gameplay: Historical offensive game modes based on real battles, focusing on the unique challenges of Alpine warfare. Fight with over 30 WWI weapons, poison gas attacks, and intense artillery fire.
• Lay the Ground for Victory: Place your own barbed wire, sandbags, trench periscopes, and more! Whether you are digging in or on the offensive, shaping the battlefield to your advantage will be key to victory.
• The Face of War: Choose from authentically recreated class uniforms, accessories, and helmets for each class to make it your own. Additionally, you can even choose your mustache from a few historically accurate styles.
• True WWI Atmosphere: From maps and weapons to music and uniforms, everything is modeled after the time period – fight for the Kingdom of Italy or the Austro-Hungarian Dual Monarchy.
