Product Description
Deliver audio batches that meet the client's spec, and prove it. WavSpec loads a batch of audio files, checks each one against a named delivery specification, corrects what can be corrected without touching the mix, re-measures every delivered file from disk, and writes a report you can send with the files.
It is built for audiobook narrators and producers delivering to ACX and Audible, freelance audio-post editors delivering to broadcasters, and producers of ads, promos and podcasts who have a written spec to hit.
How it works. Drag files or whole folders into the window. Pick a client spec. WavSpec measures every file, marks each criterion pass, fail or advisory, and corrects the batch in one run. Corrected files go to a separate delivery folder; your originals are never overwritten.
What it reads. WAV and Broadcast Wave (bext and iXML preserved), RF64, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, AAC and M4A, mono, stereo, 5.1 and 7.1.
What it checks. Integrated loudness, momentary and short-term maxima, loudness range, true peak and sample peak per ITU-R BS.1770-5 and EBU Tech 3341/3342; whole-file RMS, noise floor and room tone at the head and tail for audiobook and voice specs; sample rate, bit depth, channel layout and container.
What it corrects. Gain to the exact target, look-ahead true-peak limiting with 4x-oversampled detection, sample-rate conversion with a windowed-sinc resampler, bit-depth conversion with TPDF dither, float-to-PCM conversion, MP3 delivery at a constant bit rate through the Windows encoder, and, for audiobook specs, the head and tail: too little room tone is padded with the file's own room tone (never synthesised noise), too much is trimmed, and digital silence that ACX treats as an edit error is replaced. File names that a platform would reject are made compliant on the delivered copy.
Built-in specs, each cited to its source document and dated: EBU R 128 v5.0 broadcast, EBU R 128 s1 short-form, UK DPP AS-11 broadcast, ARD/ZDF/ORF TV (2025), ATSC A/85 (2026), Apple Podcasts, Spotify audio ads, ACX audiobook (Audible), Author's Republic audiobook, and a generic 48 kHz / 24-bit post-delivery template. Create your own named specs with fail and advisory rules, and share them with a client or colleague as a file.
What you get. A delivery report in PDF, HTML, CSV and JSON with before and after measurements, pass or fail per criterion, a loudness timeline per file, batch-level warnings, a consistency line across the batch, your client and project details, and the SHA-256 digest of every delivered file. Broadcast Wave deliveries carry the verified loudness values in their bext metadata. A watch folder that checks and corrects files as they arrive. A command line for scripted deliveries. A sample batch so you can see a full run on first launch.
Private by design. All processing runs locally and offline on Windows 11. No account, no cloud upload, no telemetry.
Free tools can measure or normalize loudness. WavSpec is for the next step: batch correction against a named spec, and a verified, exportable record that the delivery meets it.
