Interactive Clock: A Living Clock for Your Windows Desktop
Most desktop clocks just sit there. Interactive Clock is built to be touched. It floats over your wallpaper as a transparent widget, and every one of its six faces reacts to you: move your mouse toward it and it leans, glows and lights up; click it and something delightful happens. Then it gets on with the real work of being a clock: alarms with your own sounds, a stopwatch with laps, and meeting reminders straight from your calendar, spoken out loud if you like.
SIX FACES, EACH WITH ITS OWN PERSONALITY
- Split-Flap: an airport departure board. Hover and the whole board tilts toward you with a light glint sweeping across the cards. Click and every flap rolls like a slot machine, then settles back on the time from left to right.
- Analog: a mechanical dial with a seconds hand that ticks with a real spring bounce. Your cursor becomes a light source: the hands cast shadows away from it, and the tick marks and numerals swell under it. Click to fling the seconds hand into a free spin that springs back onto the time.
- Neon: gas-tube digits that warm up and cool down like real neon. Bring the cursor close and the tubes buzz and flicker. Click for a power surge that flashes white-hot and scrambles the digits before they settle.
- Particles: the time drawn in thousands of points of light that morph into each new second. Your cursor pushes them aside like smoke. Click to detonate the whole thing and watch every particle fly home.
- Orbit Rings: seconds, minutes and hours as three sweeping arcs around a digital core. The ring under your cursor bulges toward it like liquid. Click and the rings spin in alternating directions, leaving trails, then spring back.
- Jelly: soft-body typography. Press into it with the cursor and it gives; click and a ripple runs through it with a satisfying squash and stretch.
Switch faces with the scroll wheel, the dots under the clock, or the menu. Every face keeps time to the second, and the digits morph or flip on each tick.
MAKE IT YOURS
- Accent colour: six presets plus a full colour picker that updates the clock live as you drag. Buttons and highlights in the settings window follow your colour and stay readable whether it is light or dark.
- Size and shape: scale the whole clock, or stretch it wider or taller to fit a spot. Turn on Resize and drag it on screen: corners keep the proportions, edges stretch. One click resets everything.
- Display modes: hours, minutes and seconds; hours and minutes; or a dedicated seconds dial. 24-hour time and an optional date caption.
- Glass backdrop for busy wallpapers, opacity control, and always-on-top when you want it above everything.
- Animation controls: keep the hover glow but turn off the tilt, keep the tilt but skip the click effects, or switch all animation off for a perfectly still clock that only keeps time.
ALARMS THAT SOUND LIKE YOU WANT
Add as many alarms as you need. Type the time, pick AM or PM, and it rings once at the next occurrence, then switches itself off. Choose days of the week and it repeats. Give each alarm its own sound: two included songs, four built-in tones, or any MP3 or WAV file on your PC. When an alarm rings, the clock shows itself, pulses in your accent colour and offers Stop and Snooze right under the face. Clicking the clock, pressing Space or Esc stops it too. Snooze length and volume are yours to set.
MEETING REMINDERS FROM YOUR CALENDAR
Paste the iCal link from Google Calendar, Outlook, iCloud or any calendar that publishes one, and Interactive Clock reads it every few minutes. For each calendar you choose how to be reminded:
- Alarm: rings like a normal alarm with the sound you pick, until you stop it.
- Alert: a short two-note bell and a note under the clock.
- Alert + voice: the bell, then a clear spoken countdown: "You have a meeting in ten minutes."
Pick the lead times from a checklist: two hours, one hour, 45, 30, 25, 20, 15 and 10 minutes, then every minute from nine down to one. Choose the spoken voice from six options, three female and three male, and preview each one. Repeating events, exceptions, moved meetings and time zones are all handled. All-day events are ignored unless you want them. The clock can also show your next meeting under the time, so a glance tells you what is coming.
Only the calendar links you paste are ever contacted. Nothing else leaves your PC.
A STOPWATCH WHEN YOU NEED ONE
Switch to Stopwatch mode from the right-click menu and the face you are using shows elapsed time instead. Click the clock or press Space to start and pause, R to reset. The settings window has a large readout with tenths of a second, a lap button and a lap list. Elapsed time survives restarts.
STAYS OUT OF YOUR WAY
- Everything outside the clock's shape is click-through, so it never steals a click meant for your desktop.
- Lock position so it can never be dragged by accident. Unlock from the menu when you want to move it.
- Pause while gaming hides the clock automatically during full-screen games, videos and presentations, and brings it back afterwards.
- It lives in the system tray with a short right-click menu; the full settings window has Display, Alarms and Stopwatch tabs.
- Start with Windows and it comes back exactly as you left it: face, colour, size, position, alarms and calendars are all remembered.
- Light on resources: it idles quietly and only animates when something is happening.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Interactive Clock runs entirely on your computer. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no tracking. The only network activity is fetching the calendar links you choose to add. Your alarms, settings and calendar links are stored locally on your PC.
