Product Description
Desktop Frame puts a translucent frame on your Windows desktop and arranges your shortcuts, folders and files in it like the home screen of a phone. Split a cluttered desktop into pages and keep your favorites in the Dock.
■ Your files stay on the desktop
Desktop Frame shows items by reference. It never moves, deletes or renames your files on its own, and removing an item from the frame leaves the original file untouched. Your files change only when you turn on "Use the Windows menu on right-click" in Settings (off by default) and choose an action such as Delete or Rename from that menu, its keys, or by dragging a tile out of the frame. The result is the same as in File Explorer.
■ Features
• Arrange items on pages and switch pages with the page tabs, the mouse wheel or the arrow keys
• Pin your favorites to the Dock at the bottom of the frame
• Drop one item onto another to make a group; open folders right in the frame
• New items on your desktop are gathered on the Unsorted page automatically
• Add items by dragging from File Explorer or the desktop, or with "Add to Desktop Frame" on the File Explorer context menu. Folders, files and apps from outside the desktop work too
• Search inside the frame, or start a search of this PC in File Explorer
• Rearrange in edit mode, and see everything at once in All pages
• Choose the frame size (columns × rows), icon size, background opacity, frame color, and light or dark
• Keep the frame in front of other windows, or pin it to the desktop
• Bring it up with a hotkey (Win+Shift+F by default) or from the edge of the screen
• Optionally hide the desktop icons while Desktop Frame is running (only if you turn it on; they come back when you quit)
• Export and import your layout; daily automatic backups and "Restore an earlier layout"
• Works with the keyboard alone and supports Windows high contrast
■ Free trial
You can try Desktop Frame for free. After the trial ends, you can still open your items, switch pages and search. Rearranging, adding and other edits require a purchase.
■ Privacy
Desktop Frame itself does not collect or send usage data or activity history, and never connects to the internet (purchases and the trial are checked by Windows and the Microsoft Store). If the app stops unexpectedly, Windows Error Reporting follows your "Diagnostics & feedback" settings in Windows.
■ Requirements
Windows 11, version 24H2 or later.
