Rainbow Six Siege 3v3 showdown event begins in the limited-time map – Fort Truth

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege recently launched a 3v3 western-themed showdown limited-time event from July 2nd to July 16th, which included a small map of the new design called Fort Truth, a 3v3 “face-off” mode and a series of R6 Skins.
Fort Truth is a very small map, consisting mostly of outdoor ruins and a central church. The mode is 3v3 elimination with short 90 second rounds. Instead of Siege's usual automatic assault rifles, everyone's equipped with a BOSG double-barreled slug shotgun reskinned to look like a Wild West-era repeater rifle and a trust revolver. Showdown matches are brief, but extremely tense.
“Today, you get to shape the Legend of Fort Truth, a brand new 3v3 Secure Area map created specifically for this event,” Ubisoft’s page said. “Your posse of three will face off against another trio to overtake the ruins of Fort Truth and its mountain of gold. But don’t forget the golden rule: only BOSG.12.2 and Magnum LFP586 are allowed in this here shootout.”
Given the mode's theme, weapons are restricted to a two-shot shotgun (Vigil and Dokkaebi's primary BOSG.12.2) and a six-shooter sidearm (the Magnum LFP586) secondary. There are no gadgets, breaching, explosives, or setting up barricades and the rounds are best of five, but less than a minute and a half long. There are smoke and frag grenades for attackers however, and barb wire for the defenders. And of course there's plenty of signature destructible wood to blast through.
If you want to look the part, you’ll have to rustle up a Showdown Collection pack, which contains a new headgear, uniform, or weapon skin for one of the ten featured Operators. There are 31 exclusive items in the collection, covering a range of styles from Maestro’s stalwart, heavily armored sheriff look, to Twitch’s roguish wide-brimmed hat and bandana. Each pack is guaranteed to contain a new item, so you won’t get any duplicates.
There's also a set of western cosmetics available which include cowboy hats, sheriff’s badges, and more. Part of the Showdown Collection pack, there are 31 exclusive items in the collection. Each pack is guaranteed to contain a new item with no dupes. The packs will run you 300 R6 credits each.
R6 is getting increasingly creative with their events. It’s unlikely we’ll see this event used as inspiration for a new game, in the same way that Outbreak led to Rainbow Six Quarantine ... but it looks like a fun change of pace from the usual style of gameplay.
